Petersen Technology has been assisting companies and individuals for over 20 years in their project needs. We have built custom digital and analog circuit designs, done board layouts and developed software for companies such as Taylor Made and Falcon Engineering who needed sports related data measurement systems and individuals like our friend Rick Armstrong who needed some help with a water system for a mission organization he was involved with. We have the experience and we are committed to completing the projects we are given. Check out our projects page for description of some of the innovative home and company accomplishments.
Andrew Petersen-After graduating from Iowa State University in May of 1991, Andy started his first job in Electrical Engineering at the University of Iowa’s Center for Computer Aided Design. He was their hardware development group leader and was responsible for all of the hardware designs and implementation for the original simulator that later became the Iowa Driving Simulator. He also developed one of the first on-the-road vehicle data acquisition systems for a Ford Taurus. Andy was offered a job at the Center for Transportation Research at Virginia Tech and made the move to become the Director of the Technical Operations Division. CTR was at it’s beginning and Andy put his engineering experience to the test as he designed, developed and installed data acquisition systems with real-time software in vehicles going down the road that communicate their status via cellular. Projects ranged from individual cars to 100s of cars to motorcycles, bicycles, tractor trailers and buses. CTR grew into Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, a leading research facility for the advancement of Human Factors and safety-related warning systems. Andy directed over 80 engineers and technicians before going remote and moving into the Chief Engineer position to continue to do the work needed to develop and test the latest technology in regular and as well as automated vehicles.

We try to stay active and enjoy adventuring. Depending on the season you will find us hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, ice climbing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and we have the gear room to prove it. When not out and about then we are fixing, building, repairing or remodeling and working on our latest project.
