After much anticipation the wife is now happily triggering the automated trash drawer with her foot.  The engineer worked through some different modifications and tweeks to get it just right.  The drawer is equipped with safety features-stopping if it runs into anything-and an auto-reset feature. The reset button also functions as a halt button if the user needs the drawer for longer than three seconds.  The engineer installed an electromagnetic clutch that will allow someone who doesn’t realize the drawer is automated to open and close it manually without straining.  He just thinks of everything!  The automated trash drawer is now a regular part of our kitchen.  Check out this video starring Max, the dog.
